Introduction to Wheel Throwing with Dustin Romans from Studio TM
Studio T/M is a family-owned pottery studio dreamt up and realized by Sara Truman and Dr. Naomi Mostkoff located off Main Street in Gainesville, FL. Dedicated to bringing clay to the community, Sara and Naomi offer scholarships to LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals, discounts for teachers, and actively work to make clay accessible to everyone as they recognize the many barriers that surround pottery. At the studio, they make, display, and sell their work alongside staff work and curated member displays, and offer community classes, one-day workshops (known as Sip N Spins), weekend workshops with visiting ceramicists, and private lessons. Our incredible instructors help support our community of makers and offer their expertise in the classroom during class and generously outside of it on both sides of the classroom and member spaces. We offer monthly memberships (email to join our waitlist), private studio rentals, and a retail space selling clay, glazes, ceramic tools, and local products from local makers (beyond clay!).
We are thrilled to offer classes for all experience levels from Introduction to Wheel Throwing to our upcoming Advanced classes for both the Wheel and Hand-building. If you haven't done clay yet, Intro to Wheel Throwing is an excellent way to start and is what we will be sharing during our skill session workshop at How Bazaar. We will utilize the pottery wheel and show you how it works and how pieces are "thrown" upon it, and we'll take a few participants to try it out. Attendees will receive a 15% discount code (HOW15) to attend a 6-week class or a 10% discount code (HOW10) for Sip N Spin. We hope to see you in the studio with us soon!
Biography: Dustin Romans (@dustypotsceramics)
Dustin Romans is our events and party instructor - his charismatic high-energy self lends itself well to our Sip N Spins, private parties, and member events which he loves hosting. A newer member of our staff who is also hitting his first clay-anniversary, has taken to all its aspects wholeheartedly, and spends all his spare time (when he's not bowling or teaching) here with us. We hope you enjoy spending time with him as much as we do!
